ACLB Faizan Ahmed inaugurates two-day District Science Fair, INSPIRE Exhibition in Nirmal
Nirmal,Dec. 29(Abdul Majid): A two-day district-level Science Fair and INSPIRE Exhibition was inaugurated here on Monday by district additional collector Faizan Ahmed, who formally opened the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp. The exhibition has been organised to promote scientific temper, innovation and research-oriented thinking among students.
Addressing the students, Faizan Ahmed underlined the importance of curiosity and logical inquiry in science. Referring to Sir Isaac Newton, he said the great scientist did not merely observe an apple falling from a tree, but questioned why it fell straight down and not in another direction. This spirit of inquiry, he said, eventually led to the discovery of the law of gravitation. He advised students not to accept facts blindly, but to explore, analyse and find reasons behind natural phenomena. Participation in science fairs, he added, helps students develop scientific, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Earlier, District Educational Officer Bhojanna, in his inaugural address, spoke about the contributions of eminent scientists such as Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Aryabhata and Sir C.V. Raman. He said the objective of conducting the Science Fair and INSPIRE Exhibition was not only to encourage scientific thinking among students but also to enhance their observation, experimentation and research abilities. He urged students to pursue education with curiosity and dedication and to aspire to become scientists by taking inspiration from great achievers in the field of science.
The DEO informed that as many as 843 models were on display at the exhibition, including 724 science exhibits and 119 INSPIRE models prepared by students from various schools across the district. The exhibits focus on themes related to science, technology, environment, health and social issues.
Local sarpanch, Shaik Shabbir Ali President MEWA and TSPTA, Dr. Sajid Meraj General Secretary TSPTA, presidents and secretaries of teachers’ associations, education department officials, teachers and other dignitaries attended the inaugural ceremony. The exhibition will continue for two days and is expected to attract a large number of students and visitors from across the district.
