Hyderabad: 1 September, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka handed over a cheque for ₹1 crore towards accident insurance to Boda Swathi, wife of Shankar Reddy, a Grade-II employee who died accidentally while on duty under the jurisdiction of the TRANSCO Huzurabad 132/11 KV Sub-Station. The cheque was handed over at Praja Bhavan on Tuesday.

Shankar Reddy, who was performing his duties in the Huzurabad area, lost his life on October 1, 2025, due to an electrical short circuit while on duty. In view of the incident, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka personally handed over the ₹1 crore accident insurance cheque to his wife, Boda Swathi.

During the interaction, the Deputy Chief Minister enquired about the family’s well-being and financial circumstances. He also asked about the education of the children and other family details. He advised Swathi to utilise the insurance amount for the welfare and education of the children and ensure a secure future for them.

Officials stated that the State Government is giving the highest priority to the welfare of electricity employees. The ₹1 crore accident insurance scheme is being implemented to provide financial security to the families of employees who lose their lives in accidents while performing their official duties.

The officials further stated that the accident insurance scheme was initially introduced in Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) and is now being implemented across all electricity utility companies in the State. They said the scheme has been highly beneficial in providing financial support and security to the families of electricity employees.
