Sangareddy, August 25, 2026: Sangareddy District Collector Prateek Jain called upon people to take responsibility for protecting every sapling planted during Van Mahotsav and ensure its survival, stressing that tree plantation is essential for providing a clean and healthy environment to future generations.

As part of Van Mahotsav, a large-scale plantation programme was organised at Tara Degree College in Sangareddy under the supervision of the District Forest Department. Collector Prateek Jain, Additional Collector Pandu, District Forest Officer Prasad Reddy, officials from various departments, forest personnel, college faculty and students participated and planted different varieties of saplings.

Speaking at the programme, the Collector said tree plantation should not be treated as a one-day activity. He urged people to continuously nurture and protect the saplings so they can grow into healthy trees. He said increasing green cover is essential to provide future generations with clean air and a pleasant environment.

Jain said extensive plantation programmes are being conducted across mandals, gram panchayats and municipalities in the district. Public representatives, officials, youth, teachers and students are actively participating in the Van Mahotsav programmes.

The Collector also said saplings are being distributed across municipalities so residents can plant them at their homes and surrounding areas. He added that every sapling planted in the district is being geo-tagged, enabling officials to maintain records and monitor their protection and growth.

He reiterated that protecting planted saplings is a collective responsibility and urged citizens to participate not only in planting trees but also in nurturing them for a greener and healthier future.
