We Can Compete with the World Only Through Education: Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka
Hyderabad: Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has stressed that education is the only means through which society can progress and compete on a global stage. He said that the government is working with a vision to strengthen the education sector keeping the next 50 years in mind.
Speaking at Jubilee Hills on Monday after unveiling a coffee table book on education prepared by a private organization, the Deputy CM said that education is the key to social change, eradication of backwardness, and the establishment of an egalitarian society.
Bhatti Vikramarka recalled that since the era of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, several Prime Ministers and Chief Ministers have focused on building educational institutions, which helped India accelerate its progress. “The creation of IITs, RECs, and universities under the UGC enabled Telugu people to rise to the level of CEOs of leading global companies,” he said.
He further explained that even privately established institutions have grown into universities imparting advanced education. Stressing the need for dynamic reforms, he said, “Only when the syllabus evolves in line with changing social needs will it be meaningful.” Under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the state has established a Skill University with courses tailored to industry needs, he added.
Highlighting the government’s initiatives, the Deputy CM informed that nearly 100 ITIs set up decades ago have been converted into advanced technology centers with curricula suggested by industry leaders.
To ensure world-class education for underprivileged students, the government is setting up Young India Integrated Residential Schools—one in each Assembly constituency—spread over 25 acres with an investment of ₹200 crore each. A Government Order has already been issued for the simultaneous construction of 104 schools, complete with residential facilities for students and staff.
Bhatti Vikramarka also announced that Koti Women’s College has been named after freedom fighter Veeranari Chakali Ailamma, with ₹500 crore sanctioned for infrastructure development. He added that Osmania University is being strengthened with upgraded facilities and the recruitment of BC faculty.
“After a decade of neglect in Telangana, the government has shifted focus to education and healthcare,” the Deputy CM said. “Keeping in view the needs of the next 50 to 100 years, our people’s government will make education a strong foundation for the state’s growth.”
He further emphasized the need for private institutions to work alongside the government in building the education sector and assured that the state will also address the challenges faced by private educational bodies.
