Government Committed to Welfare of Weaker Sections BC Communities Should Move Forward with Unity Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule as Guiding Inspirations

State Transport & BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar stated that Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule, who rendered immense service for the upliftment of weaker sections, remain eternal guiding figures for society.

The Minister, along with Minister Konda Surekha, MLAs, MLCs, and BC association leaders, inspected the progress of the statue installation works of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule at Lake View Park, opposite IMAX Theatre, Tank Bund. The statues are scheduled to be inaugurated on April 11 by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

Later, a review meeting was held with key leaders regarding the arrangements for the inauguration ceremony.

Priceless Contributions of Great Leaders

Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said that the contributions of the Phule couple towards the upliftment of backward and weaker sections are invaluable. He instructed officials to closely monitor the works and ensure timely completion, preferably two days before the inauguration. He also directed that all necessary arrangements be made to avoid inconvenience to guests attending the event.

Statues to Inspire Future Generations

On the occasion of installing the statues at Tank Bund, Ministers, public representatives, and BC association leaders expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister. They stated that these statues would inspire people by reminding them of the services and reforms introduced by the great leaders.

The statues are being installed at a cost of approximately ₹4 crore in Khairatabad Circle. The inauguration will take place on April 11 in the evening.

Phule Couple’s Struggle for Social Justice

The Minister recalled that Jyotiba Phule fought relentlessly for social justice, while Savitribai Phule worked tirelessly for women’s education. He directed HMDA, GHMC, and district authorities to coordinate effectively and ensure the success of the event.

Proposal to Name the Road as “Phule Marg”

It was informed that MLA Danam Nagender suggested naming the road as “Phule Marg,” and the proposal would be brought to the notice of the Chief Minister.




Remarks by Minister Konda Surekha

Minister Konda Surekha stated that Jyotirao Phule was a great social reformer who promoted the importance of education and fought against caste discrimination. She highlighted that both Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule played a key role in promoting women’s education and preventing child marriages.

She also noted that through works like “Gulamgiri,” they created awareness against social exploitation and empowered weaker sections. She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to securing rights for BC communities and called for unity among them.

She urged youth and middle-aged individuals to actively participate in social movements and work with renewed energy under the leadership of the Chief Minister.

Hanumantha Rao, MLC Basavaraju Saraiah, Government Whips Adi Srinivas and Birla Ilaiah, MLAs Danam Nagender, Kavvampalli Satyanarayana, Naveen Yadav, Kaleru Venkatesh, Mutha Gopal, BC Commission Chairman Niranjan, former Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, Corporation Chairmen Nuthi Srikant Goud, Mettu Sai Kumar, Jeripati Jaipal, BC leaders Jajula Srinivas Goud and Dasu, BC Welfare Commissioner Balamaya Devi, Collector Hari Chandana Dasari, and officials from GHMC, HMDA, and other departments.
