Hyderabad, Sunday: Telangana Minorities Welfare and Public Enterprises Minister Mohammed Azharuddin strongly questioned the prolonged absence of former Chief Minister and BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao from the Telangana Legislative Assembly, stressing that constitutional responsibilities must be fulfilled with commitment and accountability.

Addressing a protest programme at Dharna Chowk, Azharuddin said that KCR’s continued absence from the Assembly raises serious questions about his responsibility towards the people who elected him.

“Why has KCR been absent from the Assembly for nearly 1,000 days? If he is unable to attend the House and discharge his responsibilities as Leader of Opposition, he should step down from the post,” Azharuddin said.

The Minister pointed out that the Leader of Opposition holds an important position in a parliamentary democracy and has a responsibility to question the government, participate in debates and raise the concerns of the people.

He recalled that KCR regularly attended the Assembly when he was Chief Minister and ensured that government business was conducted. “Today, when the people need their representatives to speak for them, the Opposition must be present in the House,” he said.

Congress Government Focused on Development and Welfare

Azharuddin said the Congress government under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was committed to taking Telangana forward through development, welfare and inclusive governance.

He said the government was working on multiple fronts, including the Telangana Rising vision, women’s empowerment, strengthening families, education and the welfare of minorities.

“The Chief Minister is working with a clear vision for the future of Telangana. Our government is committed to development that reaches every section of society,” Azharuddin said.

Focus on Minority Welfare

The Minister highlighted the Congress government’s attention towards the welfare and development of minorities, particularly in the areas of education, social welfare and economic empowerment.

He said the government was addressing issues that had remained pending for years and was taking steps to strengthen welfare delivery.

“Minority welfare is an important priority for our government. We want our communities to move forward through education, opportunities and effective implementation of welfare programmes,” Azharuddin said.

Welfare Measures Reaching People

Azharuddin also highlighted the issuance of ration cards and other welfare initiatives, saying that several pending issues were now being addressed by the Congress government.

He said the government was giving equal importance to education and social welfare and was working to ensure that government schemes reach deserving families.

Sensitive Response to Medina Tragedy

Referring to the Medina bus accident, Azharuddin appreciated Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s immediate response to the tragedy.

He said the Chief Minister acted swiftly and sanctioned ex-gratia assistance to the families of the victims.

“The immediate response of the Chief Minister reflects the sensitivity of the Congress government towards people facing difficult situations. At a time of tragedy, the government stood with the affected families,” Azharuddin said.

“Our Commitment Is Inclusive Development”

Azharuddin said the Congress government would continue working for the welfare of every section of Telangana and would remain focused on development, social justice and economic opportunities.

He said the government’s priority was to build a stronger Telangana where minorities, women, students, workers, farmers and weaker sections could participate equally in the State’s progress.

“Telangana has a future full of opportunities. Our responsibility is to ensure that development reaches every section and that no community is left behind,” Azharuddin said.
