greets teachers on National Teachers’ Day

Hyderabad, September 5, 2026:
Governor of Telangana Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla has called upon universities to continuously undertake reforms in line with the changing landscape of higher education and accord greater priority to research, innovation and knowledge creation.

The Governor said universities had a crucial role to play in equipping young people with the knowledge and skills required to meet the demands of the future. He was speaking on the occasion of the release of Volume-II, Issue-I of the Telangana Journal of Higher Education (TJHE), published by the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE), at Lok Bhavan here on Saturday.

The Governor also extended his greetings to teachers on the occasion of National Teachers’ Day and said their contribution to nation-building and shaping future generations was invaluable.

The latest issue of TJHE, themed “Universities in the Twenty-First Century: Renewal, Reforms and Roadmaps”, provides a platform for research-based discourse on contemporary issues in higher education, he said.

Universities should periodically renew their academic and educational frameworks in response to technological advancements, evolving skill requirements and global developments, Shri Shukla said. He stressed the need to promote interdisciplinary education, research and innovation, and international academic collaborations to strengthen educational standards.

Academic platforms such as TJHE could facilitate the exchange of knowledge among researchers, faculty members, educationists and policymakers and contribute to informed policy discussions on higher education, he said. He also appreciated the journal for securing both online and print ISSN recognition through the ISSN Network.

The Governor appreciated the efforts being made under the leadership of TGCHE Chairman Prof. V. Balakista Reddy to strengthen the research culture and promote academic excellence in the State.

Prof. V. Balakista Reddy briefed the Governor about the Research Education Advancement Conclave in Hyderabad (REACH)-2026, scheduled to be held in Hyderabad on September 26. The conclave would deliberate on research and innovation, institutional collaboration and the future of higher education.

TGCHE Secretary Prof. Sriram Venkatesh was also present.

Earlier, Dr. D. Raji Reddy, Vice-Chancellor of Sri Konda Laxman Telangana Horticultural University (SKLTGHU), and Padma Shri awardee Dr. P. Raghu Ram, Founder-Chairman of the Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation and renowned breast cancer surgeon, called on Governor Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla at Lok Bhavan.
