Uttar Pradesh: September 2, Former AIMIM national spokesperson Asim Waqar joined the Congress on Wednesday, marking a significant political development ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. He joined the party in the presence of senior Congress leaders, including Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Rai, after serving in AIMIM for nearly a decade.

Waqar’s move is seen as a setback for AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, who is working to expand the party’s presence in Uttar Pradesh.
