Hyderabad, September 2: A rowdy-sheeter was allegedly murdered by unidentified assailants in Mailardevpally during the early hours of Wednesday.

According to Chandrayangutta ACP A. Sudhakar, the Mailardevpally police received a Dial-100 call at around 6 a.m. reporting that a man was lying injured in the area. A police patrol team rushed to the spot and found the victim dead with multiple injuries.

The deceased was identified as Sohail, a local resident with a criminal record who was listed as a rowdy-sheeter.

“The identity of the deceased has been established as Sohail. We are investigating the circumstances leading to his death and trying to identify those responsible,” ACP Sudhakar said.

Police said the motive behind the murder is yet to be determined. The victim’s family has been informed, and their complaint has been recorded. A case of murder has been registered at the Mailardevpally Police Station.

The body has been shifted to a government hospital for a post-mortem examination. Investigators are examining CCTV footage and collecting other evidence to reconstruct the sequence of events and identify the suspects.

Police said further investigation is underway.
