Makthal, August 30: Telangana Minister Vakiti Srihari said that public development should rise above political differences and urged people from all sections to work together for the progress of villages and the Makthal constituency.

Speaking at a programme in Jaulapur village of Makthal mandal, the Minister welcomed BJP Sarpanch Mahadevamma Balakishtaiah into the Congress party by presenting the party scarf.

Addressing the gathering, Srihari said politics should not come in the way of public welfare and village development. He stressed that infighting hampers progress and appealed to people, irrespective of political affiliations, to become partners in the constituency’s development.

The Minister said that welfare schemes introduced by the Congress government under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy are reaching every village and every booth across the state. Criticising the previous BRS government, he alleged that while promises of double-bedroom houses were made, poor families did not receive the intended benefits.

Highlighting the government’s housing initiative, Srihari said that 10 to 12 Indiramma houses are being sanctioned for each of the 284 booths in the Makthal Assembly constituency without any scope for corruption. He added that around 5,500 Indiramma houses, with an estimated outlay of ₹276 crore, have been allocated to the constituency.

The Minister further stated that 68,000 ration cards have been sanctioned in the constituency and that eligible poor families are receiving 6 kilograms of fine rice free of cost every month.

Emphasising his commitment to public service, Srihari said that political positions are temporary, but development and service to the people leave a lasting legacy. He affirmed that he would honour the trust reposed in him by the people of Makthal and continue working to ensure that welfare schemes and development benefits reach every deserving household.
