Hyderabad, August 27, 2026: Hyderabad City Police have appealed to the public to remain vigilant against fake doctors who are endangering lives by providing unauthorized medical treatment.

Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, said that as part of ongoing efforts to protect public health, the city police have intensified action against illegal medical practitioners. In the latest crackdown, 12 fake doctors were identified and booked under the law.

According to the police, these individuals, despite having no recognized medical qualifications or adequate medical knowledge, were posing as qualified doctors. They were reportedly prescribing antibiotics, steroids, medicines for blood pressure and diabetes, and administering injections and IV fluids indiscriminately, putting patients’ health at serious risk. Such practices can cause severe damage to vital organs, including the lungs, heart, and kidneys.

The police advised citizens to verify the credentials of doctors before seeking treatment. Patients should ensure that clinics and hospitals prominently display the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) registration certificate and that doctors display their Telangana State Medical Council (TSMC) registration number along with their qualifications.

People can also verify a doctor’s credentials through the Doctor Search feature on the TSMC website. If the details are unavailable, the practitioner should be treated with suspicion.

The Commissioner further urged the public to seek a second opinion from a qualified medical professional if they have any doubts about the treatment or the conduct of medical staff.

Citizens are requested to report any suspected fake medical practitioners immediately by calling Dial 112 or informing the nearest police station, helping prevent innocent people from falling victim to medical fraud.
