Kishan Reddy Demands Release of ₹15,000 Crore Fee Reimbursement Dues Before Bringing Foreign Universities to Telangana

Hyderabad, August 26, 2026: Union Coal Minister G. Kishan Reddy has demanded that the Telangana government release the pending ₹15,000 crore fee reimbursement dues to students before bringing foreign universities to the state. He questioned the government over the delay in clearing the dues and said students should not suffer because of unpaid fees.

In a post on X, Kishan Reddy questioned what happened to the Congress manifesto promises of allocating 15 per cent of the education budget, providing ₹5 lakh education assurance cards and scooters to girl students. He alleged that the government was diverting public attention instead of implementing its promises.

Kishan Reddy’s remarks come amid growing political debate over fee reimbursement in Telangana. The state government recently announced ₹2,400 crore for fee reimbursement for the current academic year, including advance payments, while the BJP has been demanding clearance of the larger pending dues.
