Hyderabad, August 26, 2026: Telangana Congress working president T. Jayaprakash Reddy, popularly known as Jagga Reddy, on Tuesday came to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s defence over his proposed visit to the United States and questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s reported visit to Pakistan to attend former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s birthday celebrations.

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, Jagga Reddy alleged that the BJP-led Union government had obstructed Revanth Reddy’s US tour. He questioned why the Telangana Chief Minister was permitted to travel to London but was prevented from visiting the United States.

Responding to BJP MP Eatala Rajender’s criticism that Revanth Reddy was seeking to meet people allegedly opposed to India, Jagga Reddy questioned the circumstances surrounding Modi’s Pakistan visit.

“Modi is the Prime Minister and follows strict security protocols. Even when he travels from his residence to his office, security checks are conducted. How did he travel to Pakistan without prior information?” Jagga Reddy asked. He said the Prime Minister should first explain his visit to what he described as an enemy country before questioning Revanth Reddy’s proposed US trip.

Jagga Reddy also appealed to people, students and intellectuals in Telangana to question the reasons behind the Centre’s alleged decision to block the Chief Minister’s US visit.

On reports of an “August crisis” within the Telangana Congress, Jagga Reddy dismissed the claims and said there was no crisis in either the party or the state government.

“There is no August crisis in the Congress. It is a TDP issue. The Chief Minister here is from the Congress, and there is no doubt about the Congress government,” he said.

Jagga Reddy further said Revanth Reddy remained committed to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s leadership and had maintained a “neutral” and “balanced” position on political issues.
