Khammam: 18 August 2026 (Patriotic Views) What began as a joyful celebration for a family in Khammam soon turned into a desperate fight to save their newborn daughter. Born on May 9, 2026, baby Jaswika Sri was diagnosed with a serious congenital heart condition just 12 days after birth, requiring urgent and costly surgery. Unable to afford the treatment, her parents, Kampati Rakesh and Madhavi, were left devastated and searching for help.

The baby’s grandmother, Narasamma, a sanitation worker with the Khammam Municipal Corporation, brought the family’s plight to the attention of Municipal Commissioner Abhishek Augustya. Moved by the child’s condition, the Commissioner immediately coordinated with the Hridaya charitable organisation and government authorities, securing ₹14 lakh in financial assistance for the life-saving surgery. The operation was successfully performed on July 28, and the infant is now recovering well.

In an emotional gesture of gratitude, the parents visited the Commissioner’s office during the public grievance programme to thank him for his timely support. They requested him to name their daughter, a request he gladly accepted, naming her “Jaswika Sri.” The touching moment symbolised the power of compassion, public service, and timely intervention, giving a family renewed hope and a child the chance to live a healthy future.
