HYDERABAD: On a series of measures aimed at strengthening agricultural logistics and further enhancing farmer welfare.

HYDERABAD:29-07-2026 At a high-level review meeting held today at Civil Supplies Bhavan, senior officials discussed an extensive mechanization plan for Procurement Purchase Centres (PPCs) to address recurring Hamali shortages and expedite the procurement process.

The meeting was chaired by Sri M. Stephen Raveendra, IPS, Commissioner of Civil Supplies & Ex-Officio Principal Secretary, and was attended by Sri K. Surendra Mohan, IAS, Agriculture Production Commissioner & Secretary to Government, Sri Rahul Raj, IAS, Managing Director, TG MARKFED.

A primary focus of the new strategy is transitioning from manual handling to complete mechanical automation at major procurement hubs to systematically resolve recurring Hamali labor shortages. The department intends to deploy automated stackers and integrated cleaner-cum-bagging machinery at high-volume PPCs to significantly reduce manual dependency. This transition is designed to drastically compress vehicle loading times, accelerate transport turnaround, and minimize delays in procurement.

Similarly, In an effort to augment the logistical infrastructure for incoming Custom Milled Rice (CMR), the department has formally instructed the Agricultural Market Committees (AMCs) to prioritize and clear dedicated godown space for its storage.

Authorities, including the Agriculture Department, continue to monitor essential commodity prices. Prices have been reviewed, and there are No alarming signs across the 11 Price Monitoring Centers in Telangana.
