Smt. Gadwal Vijayalakshmi Once Again Proves Her Commitment to Resolving Women’s Issues
Hyderabad: 14/05/2026
Smt. Gadwal Vijayalakshmi has once again demonstrated her dedication towards addressing women’s issues. Even before officially assuming charge as the Chairperson of the Telangana State Women’s Commission, she has been actively focusing on problems faced by women.
In one such case, an engineering third-year student who had allegedly faced sexual harassment was declared ineligible to appear for examinations due to shortage of attendance, as she had remained absent from college because of health issues. Responding to the matter, Vijayalakshmi spoke with JNTU officials and requested them to consider the student’s trauma and health condition from a humanitarian perspective and provide her an opportunity to write the examinations. Following her intervention, the concerned college management responded positively and assured that appropriate justice would be done.
Apart from this, Vijayalakshmi also responded to media reports regarding the difficulties faced by pregnant women and new mothers at the Karimnagar Mother and Child Health Centre due to suffocating conditions and lack of proper facilities. She immediately spoke to district authorities regarding the issue. The officials responded promptly, assuring that the problem would be resolved without delay and that proper facilities and quality medical treatment would be provided to women patients without any negligence.
