Union Minister lashes out fiercely over KTR’s alleged atrocities

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Today made strong allegations, stating that despite serious charges of phone tapping, corruption, illegal activities, and abuse of power, the Congress government lacks the courage to act against the KCR family. He criticised the Revanth Reddy-led government as ineffective and directionless, accusing it of deliberately stalling the phone tapping investigation to facilitate the collection of kickbacks for Delhi. He further alleged that whenever the investigation gains momentum, funds are routed from the farmhouse to the AICC under the guise of inquiry proceedings.

Bandi Sanjay Kumar asserted that all material evidence and witness statements confirming phone tapping are already with the police. He said that during his own questioning, investigators showed him documentary evidence and witness testimonies, and added that it has emerged that even the phones of judges were allegedly tapped. Despite this, he questioned the government’s reluctance to arrest members of the KCR family.

Speaking to the media in Karimnagar, the Union Minister strongly criticised the manner in which the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is handling the case, describing the probe as never-ending and inconclusive. He said the investigation resembled a television serial with no beginning or end, adding that while the SIT officers are competent and honest, they are being denied operational freedom. According to him, certain influential figures within the government are dictating the course of the investigation, including who should be summoned for questioning.

Raising specific concerns, he questioned the purpose behind summoning KTR for inquiry, asking whether he was called for allegedly ordering phone tapping or merely to claim that his own phone was tapped.
Reiterating his allegations, Bandi Sanjay Kumar claimed that a war room was established in Sircilla to carry out systematic phone tapping. He alleged that governance under KTR followed authoritarian practices reminiscent of colonial rule, with phone tapping being used to facilitate financial transactions worth thousands of crores. He accused the previous regime of intimidating real estate developers, businesspersons, and film actors to extort large sums of money and forcing them to purchase electoral bonds for the BRS party. He further claimed that phones belonging to himself, the present Chief Minister, ministers, and even judges were tapped, holding the KCR family responsible for these actions.

Questioning the credibility of the probe, he asked why those he described as the principal accused were being treated as witnesses and their statements recorded in the name of investigation.

What has the SIT actually achieved after two years of investigation? Has even one political leader been arrested? How many properties have been seized? How many individuals have faced concrete action? Even KCR’s own daughter publicly admitted that her phone was tapped, and former minister Harish Rao reportedly refrained from using a phone for nearly a year during that period. Despite such clear statements, witnesses, and evidence, why has no action been taken, and why have there been no arrests?

Under KCR’s rule, a situation was created where even ordinary citizens, including beggars, who owned mobile phones, could not make regular calls and were forced to rely solely on WhatsApp calls. After such serious violations, what is the logic in summoning those allegedly responsible and asking them, “Was your phone tapped?” in the name of an investigation?

This government lacks the political will to arrest the KCR family. The so-called phone tapping probe has become a mere time-pass exercise. The SIT officers themselves are capable and professional, but they must be allowed to function independently. Continued interference and pressure risk demoralising them and could even lead to their withdrawal from the probe.

It has been six months since the SIT summoned me. The police themselves informed me that my phone was tapped by placing my number on a Maoist list, and they showed me the evidence. Moreover, even Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has publicly stated that his phones were also tapped. A Chief Minister would not make such claims without evidence. Yet, no action has been taken so far.

This entire process appears to be a drama. Every time people are summoned for questioning, it gives the impression that larger kickbacks are reaching the AICC. Because a complete deal between the AICC and the farmhouse has not been finalised, theatrics are being staged in the name of investigation. If even the tapping of judges’ phones fails to invite action, what protection remains for ordinary citizens? To whom can they turn for justice?

If the Congress truly has sincerity even now, it should continue the phase of arrests. Arrest the political leaders and officials who have committed wrongdoing. Only then will public trust in the Congress government be restored. No one is foolish enough to believe dramas staged through secret deals.

Let me repeat it again—the Congress government has no courage to take action against the corruption and excesses of the KCR family. Today, KTR is the accused in the phone tapping case. It was KTR who orchestrated phone tapping with Sircilla as the hub. I am in no position to believe lectures on morality coming from the very person who committed the crime.

After destroying countless lives, do they now speak about character assassination? The excesses committed by KTR are still vivid before our eyes. This government is incapable. If the BJP is blessed with power and entrusted with governance, we would teach the KCR family a lesson they would never forget. We would demonstrate how society should respond to those who indulge in atrocities and unlawful acts.

This Chief Minister lacks courage and capability and has no intention whatsoever of arresting the KCR family. He is only indulging in compromise politics. Revanth Reddy has no spine at all. Even when people were arrested merely for flying a drone and prevented from attending their own child’s wedding, no action was taken against those responsible—clearly showing his helplessness.

Our blood boils even today. The scenes of our party workers being subjected to lathi charges and cases at every step are still before our eyes. Had we been in power, we would have ensured that every lathi blow was answered with a fitting lesson.

Isn’t there any shame in claiming that phone tapping was done in the name of national security? Names of Revanth Reddy, myself, and even judges were placed on the Maoist list. For the sake of illegal dealings, were the names of film actors, businessmen, and real estate developers also included? Nowhere else in the country have judges’ phones been tapped under the pretext of phone tapping as in Telangana, yet they shamelessly attempt to justify it by invoking national security. KTR’s statement should be treated as evidence, a comprehensive investigation conducted, and strict action taken.

The Revanth Reddy government lacks the courage to take on the KCR family. Despite loud rhetoric and dramatic posturing, the Congress leadership has neither the resolve nor the political spine to act. Instead of delivering justice, they are using their time in power to focus on amassing crores.

If the Congress government admits that it is incapable, ineffective, and spineless in investigating and taking action on corruption and illegalities—including phone tapping—committed during KCR’s rule, and writes to the Centre seeking a CBI inquiry, then the Central Government will be prepared to take appropriate action.
