Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy Addresses National Patriots Day Event in Hyderabad
Hyderabad:
Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy participated in a special programme organized by the Nationalistic Thinkers Forum at Hotel Palace Heights, Abids, to mark the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose as National Patriots Day.
Addressing a gathering of advocates and intellectuals, the Union Minister said that nationalism is the common thread that unites all Indians, and any discussion on national spirit remains incomplete without remembering Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. He described Netaji as a great leader who has a “jayanti but no vardhanti,” stating that his legacy continues to inspire generations.
Kishan Reddy recalled Netaji’s powerful call, “Give me blood and I will give you freedom,” and said that Bose had united the world against British rule and shook the foundations of colonial power. He expressed regret that after independence, successive governments failed to give Netaji the respect he truly deserved.
He said that under former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and especially under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sincere efforts were made to restore Netaji’s rightful place in national history. The Modi government, he said, brought out many classified records related to Bose and ensured his life and contribution became part of academic curriculum.
The Minister recalled that during his tenure as Union Culture Minister, the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was installed at India Gate as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, calling it a proud moment of his life.
Highlighting the Modi government’s decision, he said January 23, Netaji’s birth anniversary, has been declared National Patriots Day, which is a matter of pride for every Indian.
Kishan Reddy said that advocates play a crucial role in strengthening democracy and social justice, and urged them to carry forward Netaji’s ideals of nationalism and equality.
He stated that under Prime Minister Modi, India is moving towards the dream of Akhand Bharat through various reforms and initiatives such as Swachh Bharat, GST, Startup India, Standup India, Skill India, Make in India, Fit India and Khelo India, all driven by the spirit of nationalism and self-reliance.
The Minister said India has emerged as the fastest growing economy among G-20 nations, gaining global trust and attracting investments. In 2025 alone, India attracted USD 81 billion in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), he added.
He also highlighted India’s achievements in coal self-sufficiency, critical minerals, semiconductors and space technology, noting that India became the first country to reach the Moon’s south pole and is now preparing for the Aditya mission to the Sun.
Politically, he said the Modi government has taken bold steps to strengthen national unity, including the abrogation of Article 370, construction of the Ram Mandir, and the abolition of Triple Talaq to protect the dignity of Muslim women.
Drawing a parallel between Netaji and Prime Minister Modi, Kishan Reddy said that just as Netaji formed the INA to unite Indians, Modi has united the world through initiatives like the International Solar Alliance.
He concluded by urging advocates and citizens to support Prime Minister Modi in building a Viksit Bharat and carry forward the legacy of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in strengthening a united, strong and self-reliant India.
