A free deworming programme for sheep and goats was conducted successfully at Nakkalapet village in Dharmapuri Mandal under the Telangana State Government. The programme was organised by the Jagtial District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department. The programme was inaugurated by State Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that the state government is giving top priority to the development of the animal husbandry sector. He informed that a statewide free deworming drive covering 2,10,99,035 sheep and goats is being implemented from 22.12.2025 to 31.12.2025.

He stated that the government is spending approximately ₹2.10 per animal, with a total estimated expenditure of ₹4,43,70,974 across the state. In the Dharmapuri Assembly constituency alone, 1,80,058 sheep and goats will be provided deworming medicines, involving an expenditure of about ₹3,78,122.

The Minister explained that deworming improves the overall health of sheep and goats, increases body weight and productivity, reduces diseases, and prevents animal deaths. Better absorption of feed, he said, will result in higher income for livestock farmers.

Highlighting the importance of animal husbandry in strengthening the rural economy, he said the government is implementing such programmes free of cost to enhance farmers’ income. He assured that more welfare schemes would be introduced in the future and that all eligible beneficiaries in villages would receive government benefits.

District Animal Husbandry officials, local public representatives, farmers, sheep and goat rearers, and villagers participated in the programme.
