SP Dr. Vineeth IPS warns of strict legal action against sellers and users ahead of Sankranti

Narayanpet 26th Dec 2025 (Abdul Raheem / Patriotic Views) District Superintendent of Police Dr. Vineeth has announced a complete ban on the sale and use of Chinese Manja within the district limits. He warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found selling or using Chinese Manja, especially if it leads to accidents or harm to people, birds, or the environment.
In view of the upcoming Sankranti festival, officials will conduct special inspections at shops where Chinese Manja is usually sold. Dr. Vineeth stated that Chinese Manja, which is made using nylon and synthetic threads, poses a serious threat to the environment and public safety. Its use has resulted in several accidents in the past, causing injuries to birds, pedestrians, two-wheeler riders, and even kite flyers themselves.
The SP emphasized that the sharp and durable nature of Chinese Manja makes it extremely dangerous. Many incidents have been reported where people and birds were severely injured while kites were being flown using this material. Considering these risks, the ban has been strictly enforced.
He further clarified that the State Government has already imposed a ban on Chinese Manja, and cases will be registered under the Environment Protection Act, 1986 against violators. Authorities have been instructed to ensure that Chinese Manja is not sold anywhere in the district.
Dr. Vineeth appealed to the public to avoid using Chinese Manja and instead fly kites using safe, traditional cotton thread that does not cause harm to others or the environment. He also urged citizens to cooperate with the police by reporting any sale or use of Chinese Manja by dialing 100.
The district police have reiterated their commitment to ensuring public safety and environmental protection during the festive season.
