Strict Action Against Students Involved in Ragging: Police Commissioner Ghouse Alam, IPS
Karimnagar, Sunday: Police Commissioner Ghouse Alam, IPS has issued a stern warning that incidents of ragging in educational institutions will not be tolerated under any circumstances, and strict legal action will be taken against students involved.
The Commissioner said that with the new academic year about to begin, students must understand that ragging is a serious crime which endangers not only the victims but also the future of the offenders themselves.
He clarified that harassment or indecent behavior by senior students towards juniors is a punishable offense. Students found guilty will not only be expelled from institutions but also face criminal cases, which will severely impact their future.
Directives to Educational Institutions:
The Police Commissioner instructed that all colleges must establish Anti-Ragging Committees and Squads, ensure special monitoring of newly admitted students, and conduct regular anti-ragging awareness programs and seminars. Additionally, 24-hour helpline numbers should be made available for student complaints.
Appeal to Students:
Commissioner Alam appealed to students not to harass their fellow classmates in any way. If anyone faces ragging, they must immediately inform the principal, management, or police authorities.
